This feels like one I should like more, but I'm not sure if I necessarily gelled with the pacing or the direction the story went, but that may be a matter of expectations that a rewatch could improve. Though the orientalism certainly doesn't help. With all that being said, William Wyler directs the hell out of this and Bette Davis is just spectacular as always.
Just an additional fun fact, my great grandfather worked at a rubber plantation in Sumatra in the late 30s, so that's just a fun little connection.
