stylish, violent, and insanely cool. this film moves like a bullet, sharp editing, bold animation, and a killer jazz score that never lets up. pure stoicism, a man defined entirely by precision and control. it’s pulpy and over-the-top, but that’s exactly what makes it so fun. a slick thrill ride from start to finish.

Somehow simultaneously cartoonishly ridiculous and very violent and bleak, every single character in this is a one dimensional caricature to a degree that this should probably not work at all. It’s just that the complete lack of depth to literally any character sort of ends up horseshoing around to working because of how insane the world the characters live in is. I could be fooled into believing the titular Mister Golgo 13 is a parody of the Peak Masculinity Ryan Gosling Drive meme 40 years in advance. Rival assassins with gimmicks, some of which is don’t really understand. Don’t even get me started on how women are portrayed in this. 

And it’s so awesome. A terrific looking movie. It’s gonna suck when I watch the live action Sonny Chiba movies and the one other animated movie and they all suck. Such is life
