This is the first time the title of the film is also it's entire plot and theme. The Birds, the Bees, and the Italians is all about the birds, the bees, and the Italians. There is no real plot--just a trio of stories all about the birds and the bees and the (not really) hilarious hijinks they get these Italians into.
Why did this win the Palme D'Or? I have literally no clue. Why did this need to tie with the brilliant Une Homme et une Femme ? I really don't know. There is nothing striking in the camerawork, script, acting...anything! I can't see what about this film deserves a prestigious award. It is watchable, yes, but not in the best way. Skip it.
