Despite it being a propaganda film I couldn’t help but still being somewhat entertained

Despite it being a propaganda film I couldn’t help but still being somewhat entertained

I can look past the propaganda, but I cannot ignore how bland and suspense free this is (which is clearly a result of making sure you don’t forgot the propaganda )
Kurosawa does do some interesting stuff with the characters though, and although it’s never alluded to directly in the film, there is a kind of sorrow energy radiating off the apparently optimistic themes 
Seeing Kurosawa’s comments about this afterwards definitely makes it a more interesting experience, not a more interesting film lol, but more interesting as a look at a moment of time

I wrote a really scathing review of this thing while I was watching it, but I have decided not to post it. Instead, I'll say only this: I know Kurosawa isn't the greatest director of all time simply because he made this piece of shit. There are only a few brief moments in this film that even approach redeeming its many overwhelming flaws.

"Only strict discipline, a vigilant attitude, an unwavering sense of responsibility, and a respectful, silent workplace will yield increases in production. Always bear that in mind!"
