The parallel between Mad Dog and Iko's characters always makes me depressed. They're both just being used until there's nothing left of them to go on. There are other characters who parallel Rama's story, actually, like the brother-sister assassin pair, who are surprisingly well-characterized for how little screentime they get.
Features two of the all-time great action scenes in the prison fight scene and the kitchen fight scene respectively, but in general something amazing about this film is how much better the actual choreography is on a beat-for-beat level compared to the first film. Every fight expresses something integral to the narrative, unlike the first film where most fights only express something integral to how sick Gareth Evans thought it would be if a guy got stabbed a bunch of times.
