Yes this is a ww2 propaganda film. But it’s probably by far the best one I’ve seen.
Great performances from the cast, I liked Bogart I liked Claude Rains, I obviously liked Peter Lorre, and there was really no one I thought did a bad job. Sydney Greensteet does a fantastic job of pissing you off. Michele Morgan is barely in this but is important to Bogart’s character. Although out of all the convicts the most time is spent with Bogart, I liked how they all had their own little quirks and stories.
I’m not a big fan of the flashback type of plot, but I got into the story regardless. Going back to the present at the end did kind of take me out and I wasn’t a huge fan of the ending because of that but it still works.
I loved it when Peter Lorre had a machine gun and I loved seeing Bogart kill Nazis. Sometimes that’s all you need in a film. I also almost cried at some points. That’s all I have to say.
