It’s a trip seeing Stewart this gritty when it's so hard for me to see him as anyone but George Bailey. Even with the story being as tense and brutal as it is, there was something about the pacing and those wide-open vistas that felt surprisingly calming. A really solid introduction to this side of his career—definitely a different energy than the usual Bedford Falls vibes.

Not a bad film. I enjoyed it. A good solid western. I really liked the characters. The plot did not feel very centralized though. It felt like there were two major plots the relationship between Vick and Dave and Will Lockhart trying to find the person who gave the Indians guns. Story would have been better if the plot was centralized. But I still really enjoyed this film.

Not particularly enthused by this one much, not to say I disliked it, I liked it, but I wasn't into it as much as I would like. Westerns can be a bit hit or miss with me, but even with some of the misses I still respect them and recognize that I may not be in the right mindset or mood to connect with it. Still always enjoy Jimmy Stewart though.
