Flawed but better than I was expecting, Audrey Hepburn shines as a naive Parisian who becomes obsessed with a philandering American millionaire played by Gary Cooper.

While Cooper is entirely miscast and delivers a disastrous performance, I found myself drawn in by Hepburn as she gets into a web of lies to seduce a man she believes wouldn’t otherwise be interested in her. Her performance in tandem with Wilder’s humorous script keeps the film engaging, even if it was a tad too long.

Maurice Chevalier has some good dad energy too.

I would have loved to see William Holden in this.
