Hard not to compare Powell to Bogart in the role of Marlowe, but kinda liked his interpretation of the character in this tale more wry vibes of Gould in The Long Goodbye. The story and supporting cast is pretty solid too, I felt bad for Moose. RIP big guy.
Side note: This is the second noir this month with a psychedelic nightmare freak out and honestly more of them should have had one.
