This remake of a brilliant classic falls short at living up to the original however it does succeed in not being a straight rehash of the original as Tony Scot’s direction helps amplify the stakes and the time crunch. The acting is all solid nobody stands out as bad or great just very solid. A remake that doesn’t really warrant itself being made but I can definitely see the audience that will love this.

The first time I watched this film, many years ago, I thought it was awesome. Last year, I watched the original, which I thought was even better than my memory of this one. After having seen the original, I thought I'd come back and rewatch this one to see how it holds up. Having watched both now, I can safely say the original is better but this one's still a lot of fun.

I like Denzel Washington in pretty much everything he's in, and this films no exception. I just wasn't the biggest fan of the constant low fps choppy shots, John Travolta's villain as well as some generic moments/aspects. Outside of that, it was a perfectly enjoyable, stylish and tense thriller.

Travolta is great in this and I love the spin although predictable with the 2008 Recession being apart of this storyline, but I liked the modernization of this version even if it's not as good as the 1974 classic.

Washington stands out with his emotion and the dialogue with Travolta and then that ending with Gandolfini.
