One of those so bad, it’s good movies. The Stuff is undeniably an atrocious movie on so many levels, but it’s still kinda fun. The Stuff is a 1985 body horror B-movie about a new popular white dessert that kills people. Kind of like The Blob, but with terribly executed themes of capitalism and consumerism.
My brother and I watched the original 87 minute version, but there’s a two hour cut that I don’t even want to know is in it. The final theatrical release is so clunky, and leaves out necessary scenes that would’ve added context to the scenes left in the film. The acting is horrible, which is in help to a terrible script. When Danny Aiello and Paul Sorvino are giving terrible performances, you can only blame the script at that point. There’s also some laughably awful green screen use. This is a horror film that’s supposed to be taken seriously, but you can’t help but laugh at its absurdity.
