I couldn't get mad watching this, because it was exactly what I expected. Even if they were able to gather Rodney Dangerfield as the lead, it still wouldn't have worked. Al Czerick wasn't the main character for a reason. In 'Caddyshack 2', we follow entitled characters whom we don't care about. The closest to a relatable character is the Michael O'Keefe rip-off, but he is hardly even a character. All of the new characters are tired, mug to get a laugh, and generally follow a confused tone. The first movie blends surreal gags with realistic enough characters, but it's flipped here with middling results. Everything feels off, unfocused, and unrehearsed.

I need to talk about Dan Aykroyd. I think I'm at the point of my Aykroyd appreciation that I'm starting to throw on utter garbage; I do wish I were rewatching 'Nothing But Trouble' again. Were Aykroyd and Bill Murray not on good terms when this was made? Aykroyd's Carl-esque character is so forced and exaggerated that it feels like Aykroyd wanted to give the most offensive portrayal of a Bill Murray character to spite him. I physically and audibly cringed every time he spoke.

I think I would rate this lower, but it's not a movie that made me mad enough to truly hate it. It was just a sad experience.

Well it’s safe to say I really don’t like the caddyshack movies… 

I didn’t like the first and my god this is worse… fucking hell! Forced jokes, flat characters and a whole lot of no chemistry between any of the characters. 

The humour is lifeless, you wouldn’t even think it’s a comedy. Pacing is worse than the first and that was hard to beat, but here we are. Has to go down as one of the worst sequels of all time.

I kept wondering why the lead character played by Jackie Mason feels similar to Rodney Dangerfield's character in the original film. As it turns out, Harold Ramis intended for Dangerfield to return as the lead but due to studio fall outs Dangerfield left the project. Murray was even in the original script for the sequel (replaced by Dan Aykroyd who gives one of the worst performances in his career). However, the studio couldn't let the project die and made it without Ramis and Dangerfield, instead casting Mason (as well as changing the character a bit).

Ultimately the film just makes you think about what could've been. Chevy Chase and Randy Quaid are the highlights of this forgettable sequel.
