Really liked this film that has some verya odd casting, being that it is an African film/ setting. Director Jérôme Salle does a sterling job with creating a cop thriller and it is a shame it hasn't been marketed well as it shall be one film that goes unnoticed by the masses.
Oddly I thought Orlando Bloom did a cracking job, considering I find him a shit actor. Whitker was good, but not great. The role was supposed to go to Djimon Hounsou and for what ever reason he passed, Forest gained the gig.
A few sequences were brilliantly played out and you can see clear influences from crime thrillers that have gone before.
There are a few aspects of the story that seemed unanswered and I can only assume that these were in the original cut before time became a factor. It would be very interesting to see what was cut. Most importantly, the ending felt a little anti-climactic.
Definitely one to recommend but don't expect Seven or LA Confidential.
