Before I begin my review,
1- My rating is solely based on how this documentary was made.
2- My description of it as informative is on the basis of the explanations of the long term impacts of the one child policy which I was not aware of prior to watching this.
This was enraging. Institutions that identify as orphanages should not exist if their existence leaves children worse off than stray animals. There were multiple scenes of babies crying while no one attended to them and of toddlers tied up in chairs because supervising them is apparently too much to do; it is revolting. The worst of it is when that shitty orphanage used their first big paycheck to invest in a new dining room for their own benefit instead of putting it towards the medical resources the children NEED. The idea of "dying rooms" is singlehandedly the most sickening thing I've ever learnt of. How can the government of china in good conscience approve of a policy that results in the creation of rooms designed for the specific purpose of infanticide. The existence of these rooms is to be attributed to the patriarchy, corruption, poverty and overpopulation amongst other factors. This is worth a watch in terms of the awareness this provides however it can be potentially heavy in regards to the content revolving around children who are victims of systemic abuse within orphanages.
