What a fundamentally strange movie to be attached to Billy Wilder's name. Like if it was Fred Zinnemann directing, that'd make sense. But Wilder? There's next to nothing that feels like his touch here. It's competently made for sure, it's a little plain and dull, but I can get being into this. Between that and Jimmy Stewart literally being twenty years too old for the part, this movie is just so strange. The strength of the history is what makes the movie interesting, but there's probably a much better version of Lindbergh's story that could be done. Though frankly, that movie should be focused less on the flight and more on his descent into Nazism.
