Erwin Leder's performance is marvelous and hypnotic even, his portrayal is unrelenting and bordering on animalistic, one of if not the best depiction of a sadistic predator.

The camera is definitely the finest aspect of the film, it's suffocating and clinical, granting a front row without the audience empathizing with the killer— it dissects the vile mind piece by piece.
