❝Years will come, years will go, and politicians will do fuck all to make the world a better place. But all over the world, young men and young women will always dream dreams and put those dreams into song.❞

I was surprised by how much I ended up liking The Boat That Rocked considering I'm not a big fan of Tom Sturridge, but it was heartwarming, and fun, and almost made me cry. I really liked the plot and the dual stories of the radio and politicians doing their best to overcome the other, and the general atmosphere was just filled with a lot of liveliness and exuberance. There were some problematic moments, not to mention the homophobia and sexism, which I obviously didn't like; considering this takes place in the 60s it's almost (keyword: almost) understandable but I wasn't comfortable. The ensemble cast were awesome, especially Philip Seymour Hoffman, Rhys Ifans and Bill Nighy, and the outfits they all had on were brilliant. On the whole, it's a pretty great film, and I think it's one worth rewatching in the future just to see Bill Nighy in fabulous suits.
