loved this. the effects were INSANE. the obsession with eyes being ripped out uh. made me very uncomfortable (intentionally!). a scream-to-trumpet transition is genuinely one of the most iconic things ever. visuals (especially in the last scene) were off-the-wall and super cool. reminded me a lot of jcarp's apocalypse trilogy. ATTACK, DICKIE!!!!! ATTACK!!!!

Such a gruesome watch, it’s no wonder Fulci shares the ‘godfather of gore’ nickname with Herschell Gordon Lewis!

I mean this movie really holds no punches when it comes to gore. It was over the top in the best way possible! Even in the opening sequence when Schweick getting lashed by chains, leaving these deep gashes all over him and then having his skin get melted off by some corrosive substance. It’s an absolutely insane opening that sets the bar high for the rest of the movie, which it surpasses multiple times. Like the man getting his face devoured by those spiders. I would say that I’ve become more accustomed to gore over the past couple months but that made me squirm, especially when one pierces his eye. I hate spiders and eyes make me feel funny so I was wincing when that happened 😭

i did enjoy this, but it was odd? not that it was badly made or written, it just didn't add up to be a great movie? i loved the gross deaths, honestly didnt think anyone could pop so many eyes out in the span of an hour, and liked the premise, but yeah it was just okay all in all
