Somehow the "nice guy" protagonist is even creepier than the serial killer nee hypnotist antagonist. The protagonist opens the movie visiting his buddy who is at the hospital for court mandated rehab, and while on his way to said friend, sees a young woman with parasomnia, as the film calls it. Basically, severe narcolepsy, so she spends much of her time in a coma. Being such a "nice guy", he instantly falls in love with her, and upon hearing she will be transferred to a treatment center the next day, kidnaps her and takes her home, even though he has no means to care for her and more importantly, DOES NOT HAVE HER CONSENT to do so... And somehow he's not the villain?
Aside from that, Jeffrey Combs gets a little bit of time as an intense detective investigating the situation, and that's alright, for all 6 or so minutes we get. And there's a cameo from a young Alison Brie as a cellist the serial killer wants to collect and hypnotize, since he loves music so much.
