Lesbian gay solidarity we love to see it 😌 even with the low ass budget lin’s unique directing keeps it up

i was very confused at first but when the puzzle started to connect? cinema.
this film is kinda like if wong kar-wai, gregg araki, & david lynch all decided to put their dna together for a baby

trinh my viet american lesbian icon ❤❤❤❤
this movie seems like it has some themes of sex and sexuality but i definitely don't understand them. maybe it has something to do with repression??? since phil is trying to repress his urges and just the whole katherine secretly being trinh thing (showing how being gay makes you feel like you're living a double life because she had to hide her lesbian side). however im not sure if there is actually meant to be a single coherent theme or if stuff related to sex and sexuality are just happening???
i really enjoyed how the movie was shot in asian markets and shopping squares. ive never seen those settings in movies before (this might just be because i need to watch more movies tho) and it was comforting to see places that look so similar to the ones i've gone to growing up. this movie is just very casually asian american and im a big fan of it.
this movie had a lot of interesting shots too. i enjoyed the cinematography.
i also really enjoyed trinh and clarance's friendship. it was such a nice wholesome platonic relationship and it was really nice to see a relationship like that on screen. i was so scared they were gonna turn it into something different and im so glad they didn't. i love gay and lesbian solidarity!!
overall i enjoyed this movie. it was fun and campy and i love seeing asian american queers. kind of underrated movie tbh i wish more people talked about it!!!
