Didn't expect this kind of a film. Goes beyond the regular investigative mysteries, very far ahead of its time. The reason seems very obvious now but I can imagine how shocked people would be in those times.The way the camera moves in this film is really good, it makes you feel like you are a character in the story. Everything about it is to build tension slowly, this is also what makes the climax work because the entire time the film tries to slowly build it and not giving you enough time to feel it. When the climax approaches you feel everything that you were supposed to feel from the beginning. The tense atmosphere is heightened.
The acting performances from all the leads were convincing,the hysteria of ann, the conniving look on Steven's face and the silent confidence of the inspector.
Better than a 4 but not enough to be a 4.5.
