A really solid movie about corruption with great actors and a really entertaining watch.

I love James Grey but had only seen his late career stuff. So did a chronological tour of his Joaquin movies from the first 15 years of the century. Pretty incredible to have 25 year old Wahlberg, Theron and Pheonix all in the same movie, plus a killer Caan performance. The movie has some pacing issues and Wahlberg's performance is strangely inert. Still, a beautiful, haunting portrait of a New York that no longer exists (and maybe never did). When a newscast in the movie showed a literal riot over MTA corruption, I almost shed a tear.

Thought it was gonna a regular crime thriller movie but surprisingly it was an emotion moving dramatic story

Absolutely loved the relationship between Leo and his mom, every scene was touching.
