It is completely criminal that Whiplash did not win Best Picture over this.
Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoyed this. It’s an extremely creative method for storytelling of a Devil and Angel dilemma. Using the medium a struggling celebrity trying to prove himself and others that he is worthy of his praise is beautifully simple yet deeply complex.
Allowing the viewer to retain the question of his true super powers is also very powerful and engaging.
Regardless, this is no where near better than Whiplash. A travesty that this was BP.
