Yine 1960lardan sosyal toplum elestirisi. İnsanlarin basina getirilen gorevliler yapmalari gereken seyi yapamiyor cunku guc kazanmak insani yozlastiriyor. Fakir bir kabileye yiyecek depolarini korumalari icin giden ufak bir askeri ordu zaten kendilerine yararlari olmayan ve dini ideolojilere bagli olan bir halki gormezden geliyorlar. Halk yiyecek bulamadigindan dolayi olurken ayni zamanda zamanlarini surekli tanri yerine koyduklari bir okuze ibadet etmekle geciriyorlar. Sonunda okuz aniden oluyor ve herkes uzerine cullanip okuzun etini kesmeye basliyorlar. Sorunlarinin cozumunu bulmus oluyolar. En yakin zamanda bizimde tanrimizin olmesi dileyigiyle 🙏🏿

It's a shame that Cinema Novo has become so insular to Brazil, that I have to dig through fan subs to be able to appreciate this.

The bitter taste of poverty. There is only enough power for one character to become angry and voracious. When that dissipates, the reality becomes clear.

The soldiers try to talk to the locals, but their words have no meaning. Nothing has meaning anymore in the desert. The sacred cow is just empty promises from a religious zealot - but without it, these people truly have nothing.

You only die for nothing when you're starving!
