Really sobering film, I really do feel bad for the elephant man. When he delivered that, I am a human line, chills. I did feel like the pacing was a bit off overall though, it did slow down a lot during the middle. The weird romance parts were also a bit uncomfortable but still good, it’s just a tad awkward to watch. There was a lot of genuine emotion especially coming from the elephant man having no one who loved him before. The ending did confuse me a bit but I did like it, it’s just a bit weird. Anyways, solid film, will watch again.

Film that finally made me understand why David Lynch is so highly praised, and now I genuinely look forward to exploring more of his work. It’s rare for a film to make me feel such a wide range of emotions without relying on manipulation or exaggeration. There’s honestly not much I can add that hasn’t already been said about The Elephant Man. I don’t even want to point out the obvious because everything that deserves praise has already been recognised by others far more eloquently. I’m also not great at writing glowing compliments, especially for films that feel this sincere and emotionally overwhelming.

The Elephant Man is devastating but at the same time it fills your soul with happiness, seeing how they begin to treat him as a human being and not as a beast in a show, John Hurt is a great actor and Lynch recognizes him as "simply the greatest actor in the world." It is sad to know that this type of discrimination still exists and that this happened in the nineteenth century which only leaves us as beings that no matter how much we advance technologically our values do not evolve and we remain like the animals that we are.

Technically this is simply 10/10, the music, the sound, the performances, the cinematography, maybe the editing not so much but all together makes this a masterpiece.
