Book of Blood
“Somos todos livros de sangue sempre que abertos, vermelhos.” - Clive Barker.

adoro como o doug bradley é o johnny depp do clive barker, mesmo sem ter o pinhead vão encontrar um personagem pro divo participar!!!

achei a adaptação ok, transmitiu a ideia original do conto (que é bilhões de vezes melhor) e adicionou um pouco mais de contexto pros personagens. achei o cgi dos mortos meio engraçadinho mas a escrita na pele é bem legal pra compensar!!

Some very questionable and goofy special effects (hated the generic ghosts/spirits) but the concept of the film is intriguing! Now I haven't read the original story that this was based on but I was drawn in by the fact that it was originally from Clive Barker himself. Starts off very strong with gruesome sequences but gradually becomes a bit drawn out and monotonous, the way the story plays out felt very much like an episode from an anthology series rather than an actual full fledged film which would've suited more honestly. While I do love some of the gore present here, the execution is all over the place and the movie itself visually looked too dull. The concept of the film itself is it's main saving grace as it did made for some ambitious & unique moments, like overall the idea of ghosts using a human body to write down their stories is pretty grisly and would make for a great collection of short stories but I don't think it translates well to film format and so the film ended up feeling a bit more average rather than something really good.

if there’s one thing a clive barker story is gonna do it’s be horny

there’s a charm to its corniness but it’s also a tad boring

The weakest of the Barker adaptations I've seen (yes, even worse than Rawhead Rex). The lead characters are consistently inconsistent and the final twist is incredibly misguided and didn't really work. Only pluses are a particularly nasty opening effect work for the gorehounds, and a substantial amount of both male and female nudity for the horndogs.

These Clive Barker adaptations are always so close to being great. They've clearly got incredible material to work with, and there's some horrific concepts here, but ultimately it ends up just being quite forgettable.

That being said, there's some greaaat gore here and there (and a quite somber mood near the end).
