evil mind, evil sword
I think this is my first samurai film where the concept is about mastery without morality that leads to destruction something in that way, because not only he is detached from empathy and honor, it also shows that he has no purpose
it's more about his devoid of morality, this also ask the question, what is talent when it lacks morality and it also answers it together, yk it's like watching two planes fly at the same time at the same direction and it was done beautifully
I also felt connected to the characters more, I feel what they feel, especially in that first scene, yk what I'm talking about, it literally opened with that and I immediately know shit was about to go down
as far as I remember most of the scenes with Ryunosuke it look like he's trapped, more like it symbolizes to the fact that he is trapped within his own desires, his evild mind has clouded his mind typa thing
moreover this feels like a character study rather than a samurai film, as we progress through the story we watched as Ryunosuke experience different things, especially that scene with Shimada, that dhot alone of him being shocked showd more of his character that most of the time, for him that's kinda haunting how someone is this better than him at sword
also the screenplay is my fav from this film, from the very first fight of the film, to its aspects of drama up to that one scene with Omatsu as she was running
from Kamio I believe, but up to the last sequences of the film that screenplay is still that good
