After finishing Death Proof, I feel disappointed. Tarantino’s shot at exploitation films with aesthetics that are fit for the 70s was very well made(nothing out of the ordinary for QT). But this film couldn’t quite keep my attention otherwise.
Firstly, I will show my appreciation to Stuntman Mike. I loved this character. I love everything around this character. As of the rest of the characters… they sucked. Just to be blunt.
The biggest reason why this is my least favorite QT film is the dialogue. I love QT’s dialogues in all of his films, in fact, that’s one of my favorite things about QT films. But I felt like the dialogue went absolutely no where. It not only was bland, but it was repetitive.
Overall, it’s still an above average film. It had some strong points with its protagonist and its action sequences(especially the first car wreck scene). But this is the weakest QT film.
But again, I can’t blame QT for this due to the objective of this film. Alike all exploitation films, it lacks complexity and even uniqueness sometimes.
Oh, and a fair warning to those who are interested: this film contains the most feet in any of QT’s films
