went to the film noir festival tn w my parents and this is my first noir film! was good overall but don’t have much to compare it to since i haven’t watched any other noir. now my father has a list of other movies in this genre he wants to show me so we’ll see where this journey takes us haha

A noir that somehow manages to be both bleak as hell and entirely optimistic about human nature’s capacity to do the right thing. Nobody wins, the best you can hope for is to emerge with your integrity intact.

it’s not horrible but the set up never really drew me in and the whole thing felt kind of boring. the twists near the end don’t hit as hard due to the shorter run time, it feels rushed. some interesting sequences near the end. the last like maybe 5-10 mins is probably the best part of this. i feel like it could have benefited from a longer run time where everything could have been more fleshed out. i also felt like the suspense in some scenes could've been better, like the stakes are high but I’m just not feeling it. peter lorre doesn’t have enough screen time to carry 😣
