My Amityville marathon is FINALLY over!! Although there were a few good movies in the franchise, most of them were not great, but this very movie takes the cake as the worst in my opinion. It’s just boring and wastes its potential at every conceivable point in which it could maximize its entertainment value. There aren’t many scary moments and when there are they just fall flat. And the sheer amount of time between these moments is entirely too long, there was way too much filler going on with not enough haunted house elements and whatnot. I dozed off a number of times because I just did not care about what the fuck was going on. I wasn’t scared. I wasn’t enjoying the movie at all. I was just sad and disappointed by this terrible piece of shit. At one point, one of the characters brings up the original 1979 Amityville Horror movie in a meta turn of events and I think that was the nail in the coffin for me. Also, Jennifer Jason Leigh’s character pissed me off because why would you try to harness the demonic power of the house????? I mean I know why, but like are you that stupid????? Bella Thorne wasn’t that good either. At least we got a special appearance by Kurtwood Smith. The only admirable things about this is its use of 3:15am and flies. Other than that, this sucks and should be the last (official) Amityville film. I don’t know how there was ten to begin with, they milked the fuck out of this franchise and now it’s dead as a doornail.
