Fantastic production of Frankenstein and very different from other versions I’ve seen.
The concept of the actors switching roles is fascinating and emphasizes the inseparable bond The Monster has with the doctor. I saw the one with Cumberbatch as The Monster and was very impressed by his physical performance. I can’t imagine it would have been better the other way around, but I’d love to hear from someone who’s seen both. While the play takes a while to draw you in, it continually picks up pace, until it’s ultimate climax.
This play manages to make the monster sympathetic despite committing horrible atrocities because you feel Society and his own creation put him in that place. The moral ambiguity makes it an extremely compelling adaptation of Frankenstein on an intellectual level.
