I give credit to this film for using the Bosnian War as its setting, as it is an event I think far too few are familiar with it in America, and I also add that its brutality can be tough but necessary and adds a lot of emotion. But beyond that as a narrative story around Dennis Quaid’s character this movie is trash, a movie title that is far from appropriate because he starts as the worst kind of person, and we see absolutely no real growth to atone for those sins. On top of that, and probably an even worse sin of this movie is how it frankly shows a bit of a bias in its portrayal of the two sides in this movie, while they look as both sides bad, the directors Serbian Heritage shows through often leaving the Bosnians as the perpetrators of all the worst nightmares, which is ironic seeing as how during the conflict it was the other way around.
