As a die hard horror girl, I was looking at my diary on here and was so surprised to see it’s been a while since I’ve watched a truly disturbing, scary movie. After seeing so many it’s easy to feel kind of uninspired and like you’ve seen it all.
I remembered Contracted, which has been on my watchlist for some time, and I have to say it’s the most unique movie I’ve seen recently. It’s definitely low budget, and some scenes have a way of dragging on, but I kind of enjoyed the experimental vibe. It reminded me of making iMovies with your friends in middle school, but in a way that’s more enjoyable to watch. Although I can appreciate it for what it is, I would love to see this remade as a more high production film. I see potential if it was just a bit different. Good casting and directing, as well as doing without some of plot, like how it goes about the main characters sexual orientation and the assault, could really do a lot for this movie in my opinion.
