“Your heel is broken, everyone is bigger to you” made me legit laugh out loud.

Didn’t cry.

The Out-of-Towners
happy one year anniversary to jack lemmon and i some like it hot (THEE greatest film of all time) and the apartment, and loved them both, the apartment causing me to take an interest in jack and his filmography that same december i watched it. my third jack lemmon film was avanti!*, and what might have been the reasoning for that choice? i wanted to continue watching his work with billy wilder?

no, no. this fellow who thought he "might have had a crush on jack lemmon" went to the imdb page for the film, and the first thing he saw was jack's beautiful hairy chest, a very inviting sight. in addition, he had consulted the parents guide on the film out of curiosity for the r-rating, and discovered that jack also had his ass out in the movie, and that settled what his third jack lemmon experience would be. he might have had a crush on jack lemmon.

that fellow was me, and he certainly did have a crush on jack lemmon. i certainly do. he's shirtless in several of his films (disappointingly shaven on occasion) and you even see his cute tushy (reportedly his words. the cutest tushy in show business.) in a couple of them. avanti! is the best film in the "cute tushy" department, and perhaps second to only days of wine and roses on the shirtless side of things. in terms of film quality, not attractiveness. the days of wine and roses shirtless scene is not very sexy. if the scene where josephine has to help daphne reposition things after tearing one of her chests in some like it hot counts for anything then that's the best movie, of course. i had watched avanti on december 22nd, 2024, watched a fair amount of jack's other films in the following days, and have now seen almost 50.

anyways! the out-of-towners! one last lusty comment but it's about the out-of-towners! there's a scene in this film where jack is whimpering and moaning, and i'd find something to say about that even if this wasn't the case, but the frightful homosexuality of it all is that i could feel my breath sync up with his. zowie. to be normal and still compliment his appearance, he has the cutest smile and i think he's very handsome. the reviews seem highly critical of his character in the film, and you know what, FAIR! i probably would be too if i was not so deeply enthralled with him, but he's having a horrible no good very bad day and we should be nice to him. he should be nicer himself, but i understand. he's a jack lemmon character, rampant stress and anxiety is normal.

SANDY DENNIS!!! OH MYYYY GOODNESS SANDY DENNIS!!! SHE IS ADORABLE AND AMAZING!!! impeccable line delivery and i simply adore her voice. unexpected billy dee williams! cuba mentioned! this film is tons of fun despite how nerve-wracking it can be. it's always something new with these two and their endless stream of miserable luck. lots of laughs, and i enjoyed the out-of-towners more than i was expecting to.

i've said these sorts of things before, but even if we never did share any of our time on this planet, jack lemmon means the world to me and played a significant part in the development of my love of cinema. there's a lot to criticize about some of the most talented stars of old hollywood off-camera (including others i love dearly), but while nobody's perfect (ha), everything i've heard about jack makes him out to be a wonderful man, on top of being a wonderful performer. i'm so glad i discovered him and his incredible work. i love him so much, and may he rest in peace 💛🍋

The way this so excruciatingly reflects me and my wife's dynamic in stressful situations...you just have to laugh at yourself & the absurdity of your predicament sometimes.
