as a certified ball lover, this is a very solid film made about a very weird moment in baseball history. the choice to juxtapose the universal joy of mcgwire hitting 62 (and saving baseball) with maris’ achievement and the disdain for breaking one of the sacred marks of babe ruth (overrated fucking hack who would shit his pants at having to face paul skenes or a yamamoto splitter) was fascinating to watch. we can all agree on one thing though: no shit a lefty bat for the yankees broke the record, the short porch in right is made for that shit.
