“I feel like I’ve been kicking against air the whole of my life.” 
Every time I see the updated version of one of the participants, I feel a dulling, leaden pain. Of course life doesn’t go how you think it will at 7, 14, 21, or 60 for that matter. That’s not some startling revelation. I think my reaction is due to me being afraid of the passage of time, which is inconvenient because that’s all that ever happens, all the time.
