i have so much to say
1) i despise jamie wellerstein. this might be my new least favorite man. my blood is boiling thinking about this man oh my god what the hell is his actual problem literally men with big egos should be locked away from society and he’s definitely no exception with how many songs he sings ab how amazing he thinks he is😭 i genuinely can’t put into words how much this man’s songs pissed me off. in moving too fast when he says “some people can’t find success with their art” while looking his struggling artist girlfriend straight in the eyes….. oh i could start screaming rn. i literally did not root for this man one time during the entirety of the movie. if i got home from a horrible day where i was clearly stressed from work and a man started doing that little act and making me listen to a dumbass story that he did oh my god bro crimes would be committed. the song about him being sad that hes married and can’t get with other girls and how he’s missing out literally had me sitting there seething. AND THEN HE CHEATS. also ending a marriage that you ruined with a LETTER BRO. this is the craziest self-report of all time by jason robert brown i need to do more research ab the background but if he genuinely thinks these two characters are equally at fault then all hope for men is completely lost. that being said jeremy jordan is insanely talented such a great voice.
2) i genuinely want to see this on stage so bad i feel like it’s probably way better that way. as a film it was decent like the use of colors was good but i just know this probably hits so much harder as an actual show. the structure of the story and the contrast between each persons pov of the relationship is such a good concept! the songs are all pretty good too
3) anna kendrick IS THIS MAN BOTHERING YOU? ily queen sorry that happened and you married an absolute FREAK OF A HUMAN BEING

also yall were not lying about this cinematography it’s so bad 😭😭 honestly gave the film half a star off because of it because it was so unbelievably noticeable.

Only like 50% of the songs slap, and 100% of this should never have happened.
(That last note where he sings the “I” vowel and she sings “You.” Fire!)
