If you look up film noir tropes and cliches in any book you'd probably find dead reckoning. That being said the tropes and style here kind of make it alot of fun.
Dead reckoning follows a soldier after returning home with his war buddy. When the war buddy runs off he goes to find out what happened to him encountering a femme fatale,gangsters and a pretty engaging mystery.
Humphrey Bogurt and Lizabeth Scott are the stars here. Their characters are the most entertaining And interesting to follow. Rip (Humphrey) has some pretty good narration and lines too.
The dialogue was pretty cliche here but I kind of like that. It's sharp, snappy and classic film noir. The music was cool too.
I quite like the ending too.
Dead reckoning may fall into all the tropes and offer no big surprises. That being said it's a well done if farmailiar film noir. The characters are entertaining and fun. I had a good time with this one.

Dead Reckoning is what noir is supposed to be. The femme fatales, the dark and shadowy cinematics, our Protagonist narrating and the build-up to our twist.


The problem is that it does all those things so the movie feels a bit samey while being entertaining a convoluted plot really keeps you guessing, but this isn't something that is really going to stand out bogart is good in this, but not anything compared to his performances in Key Largo or The African Queen.
