Absolutely beautiful film. For a film to be this high in my rankings, it has to hit me on a deeper level than just being a good film; for me to consider a movie to be one of the greats it has to hit me in the soul in someway or another. Dead Poets Society, is the absolute epitome of that, although it lacks in parts in terms of story/narrative. Rest in peace Robin Williams, a fantastic actor. He has a film catalogue that will be remembered as one of the best, and God bless him for this film as well as all of the other fantastic actors and others that worked on the film.

the events of the movie are going well, the characters and you the viewer are feeling the empowerment of mr keating’s teachings — create! add your voice to the chorus of human history!!! wow beautiful incredible message couldnt agree more robin williams is the goat

remember, everything’s going well — there really is no significant resistance to this school of thought, and the players involved are all benefitting from it

so how does the movie achieve resolution?

with one of the more eye-rollingly inconsistent actions by a character i have ever seen in film — a plot pivot so jarring we genuinely thought it was a dream sequence on the couch until a few scenes later

oh, but now the movie can end!!!! because it manufactured a down to come back up from. wow such satisfying resolution 🙃

nah. if your story requires me to sit through a total slap in the face like that to stick the landing, then your script is flat out incomplete

a shame, really, because the highs of this movie really are high

this film has been on my watchlist forever and i was waiting for the perfect time to watch it.i can surely say that no film has spoken volumes to me like this one.i see a bit of myself in every single character.watching it felt strange in a comforting way, like the story understood parts of me i do not usually talk about.todd’s softness and hesitation felt familiar, and neil’s hunger for something more felt just as real. it was like seeing two sides of me trying to figure out how to exist.

also knowing that neil becomes what the title hints at, a dead poet, made me feel a heavy ache on my heart.and also knowing that todd received third desk set…
