Filibus

i would like to say that he very much did not best her, she just failed to frame him completely, but her failure had nothing to do with him outsmarting her, just the fact that she didn't take the proper precautions when (not) tying up her hostage
Filibus is clearly a good boss because all the henchmen are incredibly loyal, so this is all very found family-esque if you really think about it. and maybe filibus is actually leonora's girlfriend/partner and their way of bonding with leonora's brother is to continuously frame him for crimes.
anyway, this was a fun movie and its too late at night for me to filter this review down so this rant is when im sticking with. we love a good genderfluid (?) pirate especially when they succeed

It's absolutely wild to me that a movie like this even exists, but the fact it does brings me endless amount of joy. As the blurb on the blu-ray says, "The incredible 1915 Italian feminist, steampunk, jewel thief, cross-dressing, aviatrix thriller!" Like. Oh my god. SOLD. IMMEDIATELY. It plays similarly to Feuillade's crime serials, with a dash of the special effects of Méliès, and I can't help but feel that Miyazaki and Wes Anderson have been at least somewhat acquainted with and inspired by this. We need a modern version of this ASAP. It'll sell like hotcakes!

The National Gallery of Art released an interesting title for free for a limited time. The still they shared had a woman wearing a mask arguably disguised in a thief attire. She looked badass so I thought I’d give it a chance. This is how they describe it:

It really is about a skypirate that schemes and plots robberies from a cool dirigible. She tries to convince the detective tailing her that HE IS ACTUALLY the infamous criminal Filibus and succeeds every single time. It gets crazier and I love it.
