This is so close to being a stone cold classic. It’s a little too loose. At times does feel a little compromised in the edit because director Hal Ashby was fired right after production wrapped. Some dialogue is a lot of yelling back and forth in circles. But man, when it’s on it is ON. Bridges, Arquette and Garcia all really good in this. They all get their moments to charm despite this being a very ugly and violent movie. Am I crazy for thinking this will be something I’ll come back to many times?

Solid and fun movie that is criminally underrated. Although at parts it became a yelling match between Jeff Bridges and Andy Garcia, it was a high stakes yelling match. You are able to follow the alcoholic ex cop Bridges plays at arms length, but yet it continues to be fully engaging and you follow him in a noir type mystery involving prostitutes and people he previously put away as a cop. “There are 8 million people in this city, and 8 million ways to die”.
