Unfortunately I watched this film without any look-ups - A cult classic film in Russia(and among former USSR countries) and since the it's origin, it consist a lot of USSR related jokes and almost everything revolves around the day in the life things of a USSR member, such as waiting for a butter in a line of hundreds for couple of hours with the chance of not even acquiring it, etc..
As a European, I didn't even get the "easier" to understand jokes, but even if I could there would be other factors that would affect my review.
The themes behind the film is far from me to delve myself into, but I was able to catch the vibe and symbolisms in the film to understand why's so many people stating that it's a masterpiece. Films with political themes aren't for me, because I'm only invested in individualist themes such as a human psyche or human psychology, hence why one of my favourite film is Stalker by Andrej Tarkovsky.
The costume design was really good, and it sure looked like that they are from another "world", and not to mention that the people on pluk are far more advanced than anyone on Earth(someone under a review video's comments pointed it out) - even a Patzak can use telepathy and even learn foreign languages, as a matter of fact their weapons too look like a simple construct even though they are as deadly as a weaker rocket launcher. Even with way more advanced technology they still live in a distopian and dilapidated planet with almost nothing but sand.
Everything felt like a fever dream and the atmosphere was really good, it was surreal and dirty.
I wouldn't give this film a rating but only a like because of my lack of connection with themes, and it would just ruin the picture as a whole.
Very good film
