A very interesting take on body horror. The visuals itself aren’t enough strike a cringe look for me rather it being the sounds for the visuals heavily evoking the emotion. I like how the mutilations are involved in the story because it’s created in a way where it’s just normal and not odd in any way. But obviously this is a very strange film but it continues as if it’s nothing out of place.
I can’t really explain it but there are some power rangers-esque moments throughout and it kinda takes away from the creepy aspect of the film. I really appreciate the direction for animation and it’s great from a storytelling standpoint to create this folky feeling. But there’s not a lot of things I’m strongly wanting or invested in when it comes to this film.
