A young, bare-knuckle boxer Craig moves from Blackpool to London, where he falls for a twenty-something music producer, Matt. Trouble ensues when shy, awkward Craig tries squeezing into Matt's glib lifestyle and Matt's scheming boss tries to break up the couple.
I wasn't sure what to expect going into this but, I really enjoyed it. I liked both charecters and their differences and journeys. I liked the setting and the different themes/issues the film explored. It all felt quite authentic and reminded me of a number of more modern films with similar premises.
I liked the dialogue which made me laugh a number of times. It's depiction of the working class and culture of the time, I also thought was quite good. It's not perfect and sure it has it's flaws but given it's rating on here, I'd say it's underrated. It's a product of its time and I don't think there's anything wrong with that.
Overall, it was definitely worth the watch. I enjoyed it, thought it was very good. I'm especially glad it had a somewhat happy ending.
