One of those movies your dad will watch on a plane. If it wasn’t Mel, it’d be Bruce Willis, on a revenge rampage whilst talking in a deep voice. A script Helgeland could probably write in his sleep, but actually with some nice baroque smokey and greasy cinematography. People get punched and shot a lot.

This is a pretty underrated modern noire film that definitely doesn’t get the amount of attention it deserves. It’s a really good watch, I had quite the pleasant time watching.

This first watch of Payback was the directors cut, and as expected its thought of as the better version. I can definitely see how narration and a changed ending/tone would leave it a very different movie compared to what was seen in theatres 

I know I praise Mel Gibson for pretty much anything but he's like really good at acting injured or dying if that makes sense. Ofc he is one of the greatest actors of all time sooo
