i don’t know why every time i watch an old punk documentary the white people are always fucking weird and racist. like it really is just so BORINGGGG. there’s nothing punk about people who are racist, homophobic, or misogynistic. just a bunch of insufferable edgelords.

charming, hilarious, depraved, and disturbing.

the culture of violent misogyny—among other really not great views on minorities—really permeated this scene in a way that makes it impossible to glamorize. AND YET. the music is so fucking good that a dumb and curious part of me wants to go back just to experience it for a moment.

i wonder how many of these punks ended up as run of the mill, cul-de-sac grandparents versus how many of them ended up in prison.
