Pretty good, I liked the twist it had at the end when we figured out who the real killers were. It’s definitely different following three different police with their own ways of being a police. It was almost a version of the good, the bad and the ugly. The script and story was well thought out and well acted except for Danny Devito, that man can’t act. Spacey is a phenomenal actor, too bad he’s a horrible human being. Maximus decimus Meridius was also solid in this film. My big con for this movie is the whole prostitute love triangle part, like brother you know she’s a bed hopper. That’s literally her whole job then you got pissed off because she was screwing someone you knew. You signed up for that pal. Just left like an excuse for those two cops to have beef, it’s a little dumb. It’s got solid pacing, I wasn’t really bored at any point besides a little bit in the middle of the movie but that was because romance was involved. It’s a solid one all around. Definitely worth a rewatch.

the movie is sooo good, but I still have a couple remarks. my main issue was with basinger, and the role of women throughout the whole film. I can explain it to myself by immersing in the 90s cultural context, but it would be superficial to do so.
starting with Basinger, I think I expected wayy more knowing that she was awarded an Oscar for this, but her character was really underdeveloped. don't get me wrong, I think the screenplay as a whole worked really well, but her character was just left there with so much potential as a main traction towards the uncovering, even just as a witness. in contrary, she wast just a object of lust, both for the characters that for the audience.

anyway, I unluckily know so little about old Hollywood star system yet, so I may have missed a few references (for instance I realized it was set in the 50s only halfway through the movie) but the whole setting was really clever.

Danny you're a star I love you. Kevin why did you have to be such a horrible person, you're one of the best actors of all time. guy, I meannn, those slutty glasses... And Russel, I think my mum felt the same way I did for Guy for you, if that's something.

In conclusion (even if it's like the third conclusion paragraph), wow. Even with all the good reviews and the awards, it still feels underrated. Extremely recommended.
