Without a doubt, this was my favorite film when I was a kid.

I know I’ve mentioned this before, but a couple years ago, I made the realization that 127 Hours became my special interest partially thanks to films like this, Milo and Otis, and Homeward Bound. Everything just made sense when I realized that. Animal survival films were my favorite kinds of films I loved watching when I was younger. Now it’s transitioned to human survival stories! I think it’s the coolest thing.

It’s not as amazing as I used to think it was, but I still love it a lot. I can’t go wrong with Benji being stranded in the wilderness with a killer soundtrack!

Decided to break my 127 Hours watching streak with this film!

I’ve mentioned my story with this film a couple times before, but I figured I can share it again. This film was probably my top favorite film during my childhood. I can’t begin to tell you how much I played the vhs tape. From what I can remember, I don’t think it ever broke! I didn’t watch it 1K+ times like I have with 127 Hours, but it was still a lot. I always loved how it mainly focused on the animals and contained very little dialogue. It also has a bitching soundtrack. I’m also pretty sure that Benji was my favorite dog actor at the time, so I was fascinated whenever I was watching him.

I credit films like this and Homeward Bound for getting me into the survival genre. For the longest time, I thought it was mainly 127 Hours that got me into it, but thinking back, some of my childhood favorite films paved the way for me. Maybe that’s one of the reasons why it became my favorite film. I think that’s pretty damn cool.
