After Nami steals the Going Merry, Roronoa Zoro, Usopp, and later Monkey D. Luffy and Sanji (along with Johnny and Yosaku) set after her and wind up in Cocoyasi Village, Nami's hometown ruled by the tyrannical fishman Arlong. It is here that Nami's past and true motives come to light.

Even better. Nami’s arc is undoubtedly the best of the East Blue saga. This was the arc the really got me invested in One Piece. Luffy breaking Arlong’s nose is one of my favorite moments in the series. Destroying the room which held her captive and was a constant reminder of Belle-Mere’s sacrifice 🙌🙌🙌 Couldn’t have been a better way to show both how empathetic Luffy truly is and how far he’ll go for who he calls his friend.
