Stir Crazy

The first comedy of this challenge and to be honest I’m a little disappointed. I love Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor and I’ve added a few of their films together for this challenge.

I feel Stir Crazy lacks direction. It seems Gene specifically is improving a lot of the scenes and while I think he’s very charismatic I often am left wondering why exactly he’s doing what he’s doing on screen.

The script is uninspired and at times a snore fest to watch. Lacking any real substance, the nonsensical ramblings draw away from the overall story. And the plot doesn’t progress naturally. This movie did not need to be nearly two hours long, should’ve condensed it and cut out some boring scenes to make it an hour and a half.

Personally I don’t recommend this movie. Apart from the below average performances of both Pryor and Wilder there really isn’t much of anything to this film.
